In 1946 Stanley Works purchased the North Bros business.

 For several years Yankee bit braces were manufactured in Philadelphia, in former North Bros. facilities. During that time the braces were marked as produced by North Bros., a division of Stanley Works. No changes were made to the design or appearance of the braces.

In later years small changes to the appearance of the braces were introduced by Stanley. The hard rubber handle material was abandoned and new, hard plastic (ebonite?) was used.

The finest bit brace ever made.  Holds any shape bit ( round, square, any taper) in a vise-like grip.  Ratchet works without calling for a hand to hold chuck from turning back.  Does every kind of boring job within scope of a bit brace.

Quick-centering, Ball-bearing Chuck.  Holds round shanks up to 1/2 inch diameter and square shank up to 5/8 inch across corners used on larger bits.  Ball-bearing give easy action in your hand, enabling you to lock and release bits at a turn of a wrist.
