Millers Falls No 5A Hand Drill-1957 model

This model went produced between 1957 and 1964.

In 1965 Millers Falls went back to the original terminology and reintroduced No 5 drill.

 

Catalog description:

 

Single speed, two pinion hand drill.  Frame made of die cast iron. Drive gear with extra wide rim. Three-jaw, spring chuck and adjustable from 0 to 1/4 inch. Black enameled frame, drive gear painted red; bright parts nickel plated. Main handle, crank and side handles in tropical hardwood. Main handle doesn't have hollow space for bits storage. It is solid wood. Side handle detachable. Full length - 12 7/8".

 

Main Handle painted black.  Stained hardwood on crank and side handles.  Triangular trademark: Millers Falls Co. Greenfield, Mass. Made in U.S.A.  Excellent working condition!
 

   

 

Fully restored:

Drill was fully disassembled - gear, spindle, bearing, chuck, handles – all was taken apart. Cleaned, striped, frame and main gear re-painted and baked. Wood on all handles cleaned, sanded and stained with red mahogany. Main handle painted black. Three layers of lacquer for final coating. Greased, oiled, tuned and checked. Superb tool! Great addition to your toolbox or collection. Lovely Tool!
