This is the first release when Reinforced Spindle Housing was
introduced.
Millers Falls
catalog describes this drill as:
Single speed hand
drill with one pinion and malleable iron frame with ball thrust
bearing on spindle. Adjustable friction roller opposite to the
pinion. Three-jaw spring chuck - patented
by William J. Parsons in 1900 - adjustable
from 0 to 3/8 inch.
Malleable iron frame is enameled black. Drive
gear is painted red. Cocobolo main handle with hollow storage for
drill bits and cap. Offset crank arm and handle in Cocobolo. Side handle,
mushroom shape in tropical hardwood. Bright parts nickel plated.

Fully restored:
Main frame fully stripped, re-painted
and baked. Side handle sanded,
re-stained with red mahogany and painted with 3 layers of lacquer.
Main and crank handles sanded polished and treated with 3 layers of wax.
Carnauba wax for a final coat. Gear tight and very smooth. Chuck
disassembled, cleaned inside and out. All inside surfaces polished,
including jaws – for smooth operation.
Greased, oiled, tuned and checked.
