Millers Falls Hand Drills

   

Millers Falls Hand Drill No. 1. - 1903 edition

Frame made of malleable iron.  One pinion and screw-type adjustable equalizer.  Ball Trust bearing at the end of the spindle.  Three-jaw, spring-less chuck adjustable 0 to 3/16 inch. Black enameled frame, drive gear painted black; bright parts nickel plated.

Main handle made of Cocobolo with a cap and hollow space for bits storage.  Crank handle made in Cocobolo.  "Teardrop" side handle made of tropical hardwood, stained with mahogany.  Side handle is detachable.

   

Restored:   Cleaned, striped, frame and main gear re-painted and baked.  Wood on all handles cleaned.  Cocobolo cleaned with BLO and waxed - 3 layers.  Final coat is Carnauba wax.  Hardwood of the side handle sanded and stained with red mahogany.  Top coat – 3 layers of lacquer.  Greased, oiled and checked.  Superb tool!
